Captain Sawyer's
A Victorian sea captain's house with a cupola, wraparound porches and harbor views from nearly every room. Planned as twelve keys after renovation, with the porches rebuilt, the cupola opened as a lookout and the interiors taken back to a working captain's house: painted shiplap, wide-plank oak, navy and brass.
The idea
Captain Sawyer's is the most architecturally complete house in the collection and the one that has been waiting longest. The vision is a working Maine captain's house reborn: linen and lobster boat, not chintz and doilies. Slate-grey exteriors, cream interiors, handmade wood, and brass that is allowed to age.
Kitchens go galley-efficient with soapstone counters and open shelving. Living rooms get slipcovered linen and vintage maritime oils. Bedrooms get slim oak four-posters and iron spool beds, reading lamps everywhere and no overhead cans. The porches and the cupola become the reason to book.
Status
Survey and measured drawings are complete. Design proposals and the renovation sequence are being developed alongside Welch House so the two largest projects share a construction team.
